About the Editor:
Roger E. Schirmer, Ph.D., is Vice President for Research & Development, Guided Wave,
Inc., El Dorado Hills, California. Dr. Schirmer’s previous positions include
Group Leader in the Raw Materials Group, Analytical Chemical Development, Eli
Lilly & Co., Indianapolis, Indiana until 1977; and Manager, Chemical
Methods and Kinetics Section, Battelle Memorial Institute, Norhwest Research
Laboratories, Richland, Washington until 1985.
Dr. Schirmer graduated in 1965 from Wayne State University, Detroit,
Michigan, with a B.S. degree in Chemistry and Mathematics. He obtained his
Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1970.
Dr. Schirmer is a member of
the American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Physical
Society, American Chemical Society, Society for Applied Spectroscopy, American
Society for Testing and Materials, and Instrument Society of America. He has
authored or co-authored more than 25 papers in pharmaceutical and toxicological
analysis, applications of nmr to problems in chemical kinetics and structure,
and remote chemical analysis through fiber optics. |
