About the Book

The subject matter has been presented in detail, in a simple form with clarity so as to enable students of varied background to understand the subject with little effort. An attempt has been made to explain the theory through illustrations, diagrams and examples for understanding the concepts involved keeping in mind the different levels of intelligence of students. This book has been specially rewritten for the first year students of engineering colleges affiliated to JNTU Kakinada and entirely cover the revised syllabus in Mathematics as per JNTU.

• A good number of solved examples along with a large number of graded problems in the exercises are provided under each topic and as well at the end of each chapter for practice.

• A set of objective type questions are given in the last pages of the chapters for the convenience of students preparing for the examinations.

• A summary of important formulae and working rules for solving problems is given at the end of most of the chapters.

• Number of solved JNTU questions of previous years are added after each chapter.

M. Bhujanga Rao, M. Phil., Ph.D. is presently Director, Centre for Distance Education, Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda. He retired Professor of Mathematics Department, College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has more than 30 years of teaching experience. He held many important administrative and academic positions while he worked in Osmania University, Hyderabad.
